Two-time NBA MVP and three-time champion Steph Curry has struck a partnership with FTX to serve as the exchange’s new Global Ambassador.
The crypto derivatives exchange FTX has announced that NBA great Steph Curry has inked a long-term agreement with the company. Curry will become FTX’s new Global Ambassador as part of the contract. The champion will also get an equity stake in FTX Trading Limited, as well as a charitable partnership for his foundation, Eat.Learn.Play.
Curry said he was “excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users,” according to the official statement. “FTX is like-minded when it comes to giving back to the community in meaningful ways, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together,” he added.
Tom Brady and Trevor Lawrence are among the high-profile athletes with whom FTX has partnered. Curry’s first cryptocurrency venture comes as he approaches retirement.
On the charitable front FTX will make contributions through its partnership with the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation as Steph and Ayesha Curry work to help all children reach their full potential. The non-profit is dedicated to preventing childhood hunger and ensuring that children have access to high-quality education and safe spaces to exercise. So far, the organisation has served 17 million meals to Oakland children and their families.
FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried talked about the partnership saying, “After meeting and speaking with Stephen, it was clear that he is a seamless fit for FTX. His tireless commitment to charity alongside a ferocious work ethic to become the greatest in any arena he steps foot in, whether it is basketball, investing or business, perfectly aligns with FTX’s core values. I look forward to working together with Stephen to create a positive impact for those who need it most in the world.”
