As Web 3.0 looms closer and closer, Google and Dapper Labs have joined forces to improve blockchain support.
Google Cloud announced on Tuesday a partnership with Dapper Labs, a leader in the blockchain business. The development centres on Dapper Labs blockchain Flow’s support and scalability. Flow operations and expansion will be aided by Google’s cloud service infrastructure.
This deal comes as the Flow network runs hundreds of applications, including NBA Top Shot and CryptoKitties, both of which are NFT heavyweights. The network boasts more than 2,000 developers, in addition to the applications. Through Google cloud services, these developers will have access to lower latency nodes as a result of this new agreement.
With the digital space transitioning to Web 3.0, internet behemoths scramble to find their place. Google’s partnership with Dapper Labs offers it a developer-friendly aspect. It does not, however, support cryptocurrency mining. Regardless, the new flexibility gives users the option of selecting a desired region for their platforms, including based on regional energy usage.
The partnership, according to Janet Kennedy, vice president of Google Cloud North America, offers Dapper Labs the support and scalability it need in this period of industry expansion.
“It’s really about helping them with rapid and sustainable growth,” Kennedy explains. “Blockchain technology is becoming more and more mainstream. So companies like Dapper need scalable, secure infrastructure to grow their business, and even more importantly, support their networks.”
The blockchain and crypto world saw the shift with the meteoric emergence of non-fungible tokens over the past year. According to Dapp Radar, Dapper network users made between half and one million weekly transactions over the summer. The platform swelled to become the fourth largest in the industry during this period.
In its first year, the hugely successful NBA Top Shot collection generated about £505 million in sales. The new tie-up with Google aims to help Top Shot and other Flow NFTs scale.
